BalticNet: Oslo (Torp)

I'm aware that Ryanair's Oslo (Torp) is actually Sandefjord airport, in the south west of Norway's Oslofjord. Can anyone with first-hand experience recommend somewhere reasonable in the vicinity to leave the boat for a couple of weeks in mid-season? I'm aware that Sandefjord has a guest harbour, but there are a number of dormitory marinas also in the area and wondered if these were a better bet. Regards Ivan

Ivan, I am not certain this is the right way to reply to this, and the reply is rather late. Sandefjord guest harbour is probably your best bet in the area, but last year they were reluctant to have yachts moored there unattended in peak season. A CA member left his yacht for 4 weeks at Stathelle marina, summer 2006 I can get you the details if interested. Porsgrunn municipality docks (Østre Brygge) may also accept your yacht, regular buses to Torp. There is a bridge to pass under, I am uncertain of opening times. I think I have some details about on a file somewhere. I am presently on my boat in the Sound but will be in Copenhagen in a couple of days and will check my e-mail again then. Send me a note at hansvald@start.no or give me a ring at +4795702178 if I can be of further assistance. Kind regards, Hans Jakob valderhaug
