Baltic Section Forthcoming Events

 

Rally 2009

It is not planned to have a major Baltic Rally in 2009.  As boats are spread about all over the Baltic it could be a better idea to have a number of small local meets.   However, we are aware that the ICCY Rally in 2009 will be held in Mariehamn West, Aland Islands from 27th to 31st July and we would therefore encourage our Baltic sailors to take part in this meeting.

 

ADVANCE NOTICE

A winter trip to St Petersburg such as was organised in 2008 is being considered.  Numbers would be limited so we could all fit into one coach as in 2008.  Expressions of interest please to the Section Secretaries on sytamoshanter[at]aol.com. 

 

DATES FOR NEXT SEASON (2009/2010)

Friday 30th October - Brian Hammett will tell us more about Arthur Ransome in the Baltic.  Brian is planning a visit to Latvia in May this year and hopes to follow the route of Racundra's Third Cruise up the Lielupe River from Riga to Jelgava.

Friday 4th December - Baltic Social Evening

Sunday 10th January 2010 - Baltic Party

Saturday 13th February 2010 - Baltic Seminar - an all-day event is planned to give more time for those seeking information on Baltic sailing.  An additional presentation will be Tony Marriott talking about sailing to the Baltic for the first time.

Friday 19th March 2010 - talk (probably about Sweden).
