Expressions of interest in the following post would now be welcomed. The closing date for applications is Friday, 14th November.
General Secretary of The Cruising Association
This is a hands-on position that will involve some clerical duties in a small office on a day-to-day basis, along with full management responsibilities. The successful applicant will have oversight responsibility for the Association's website, publications, and event planning. All of these require an emphasis on membership retention and recruitment, and marketing the Association.
It is essential that those to be considered should be self-disciplined and well organised. They must have proven skills in management of staff performance, budgets, and premises. A high standard of literacy and numeracy is required, together with an ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person. Good interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with the full spectrum of internal and external contacts is also necessary. Much of the Association's work is carried out by volunteers and we are looking for someone who is able to develop and motivate others, including volunteers.
You should have versatile IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, familiarity with the reports available in Sage or other accounting software, and experience of using electronic databases. Experience in negotiating contracts for goods and services, marketing experience, and tactfulness and diplomacy will be added advantages.
If you have an ability to think in broad terms, identify trends, solve problems, create effective new procedures, have a basic understanding of accounts, and a knowledge of the legal requirements in running a small business, you could be the person we are looking for.
