Problems logging in?

- I can't see the "User login" box at the top left.
You are probably logged in already. The cookie used to identify you lasts for about 3 days so if you logged in during that time you don't need to log in again. If your name appears at the top of the left hand column you are logged in. Don't rely on the "online users" box on the right. - When I attempt to log in I get an error message "500 file server error".
This probably means that you have used the address "www.myca.org.uk" to access the site. Use the simpler address "myca.org.uk" instead. You may need to change your bookmark/favourite. - I can't remember my password.
Click on the link "Request new password" below the Login box and enter either your email address or your user name. You will be sent an email with a free login link which can be used to change your password to something you can remember. - I can't remember my user name. The answer is the same as above, except you must use your email address.
- But my email address has changed and I can't access the old one!
In that case, click here to send a message to the office to ask them to fix it for you. Make sure you include your old and new addresses! - When I try to log in nothing happens. The log in box reappears.
This may mean you have cookies disabled. Click on Internet Options (on the Tools menu of Internet Explorer 6) and select Security. This should usually be set to "Medium" but in any case make sure that "myca.org.uk" is included in the list of allowed sites. Other browsers are similar.
This condition can also arise from some firewall settings. Please consult your local administrator.
There is also a strange problem that we are tring to fix, concerned with changing cookies. If you get a login box when you are logged in, the best thing to do is to refresh the page, using the appropriate button on your browser. This usually but not always cures it. If it persists, then wait a few hours and it should work again. If it still persists, please contact the webgroup. - I get the error message "Access denied. Please login to view this message". But I am logged in!
There are several reasons you might get this message. Not all content is available to all members - the message also says you may not be authorised for this page. e.g. some pages are only accessible to committee members or members of the Crewing service.
Another reason is that you went directly to a forum page without re-entering your MyCA password. The forums use different cookies to the rest of MyCA and sometimes one can expire before the other. The solution is to log in to MyCA again.
