The RCC has done well to select Anne Hammick as their Atlantic pilot/guide writer. She has acquired the necessary knowledge and experience as both a voyager and a writer, to produce an exceptionally competent, easy to read, guide that meets the needs of cruising sailors. Comparing this 3rd edition with my own 1 st edition has shown me how thoroughly Anne had revised the previous text, which was already good.
I would not venture across the Atlantic without a copy on board. It contains all the information – too much to describe in a short review – one could wish for, to be well informed, for confident island stopovers (with the notable exception of Bermuda) during the crossing in either direction.
The guide would, of course, be equally handy if one’s plans were simply to cruise around any one or more of the featured island groups. – IG
