Cruising Information

Cruising Information is the life-blood of the Cruising Association. Our most valuable resource is the information gained by members whilst they are cruising, particularly new and updated information on Ports, Harbours and Anchorages that is often unavailable from any other source. The various ways in which that information is gathered together and passed on to other members are summarised below:

Cruising Information Series

The Cruising Information Series is a series of booklets published by the Cruising Association each giving a brief introduction to cruising in a specified area. Each booklet contains a distillation of the knowledge gained from members over the years and is offered as an ideal introduction for those contemplating going to the area for the first time. Further information can be found here.

Cruising Information Reports (CIRs)

Cruising Information Reports were traditionally written on pre-printed paper forms and posted to CA House where they were placed in the appropriate box file in the library. This system is still in place but has now been augmented by the ability to submit and read Cruising Information Reports online. These online CIRs supplement those sent in on paper, and can now be searched and read by members around the world, not just those who are able to make the trip to CA House.

Read the CIRs that have been submitted by members.

Learn how to submit a CIR. This page gives full details of the various ways to submit a CIR and contains a link to download a CIR Form. This form has space to complete a CIR in manuscript on one side and information on how to submit a CIR electronically on the other.

Mediterranean Pilot Updates

The Mediterranean Section publishes Pilot Updates every year giving details of changes and additions to the information provided in the commercially-available Pilot Books for the Mediterranean. The Pilot Updates can be found here together with information on how to submit updates for inclusion in subsequent editions.

Cruising Information Notes (CINs)

Three times a year a synopsis of recently-submitted Cruising Information Reports is printed and distributed with Cruising. You can download past copies here.
